As you have probably noticed, one of the largest sources of information on Java programming and related topics is the Web itself. There are countless sites that offer advice on Java programming, the Visual J++ programming environment, HTML files, ActiveX technology, and so on. This is Sun Microsystems’ official site for Java information. As you may have guessed, the site contains a large amount of information specific to the Java programming language, including documentation, JavaBeans, developer information, and products.

This site contains an online version of the Java Developer’s Journal. This publication contains information on many Java programming-related topics, including development platforms, ActiveX, and security.

This site contains a monthly online magazine with news related to Java development, and offers opinions on many of the numerous products available.

Visual J++ Web Page—http://www.microsoft.com/visualj/

Microsoft’s Visual J++ Web site, containing information on all supported releases of the Visual J++ programming environment. A weekly tip related to Java programming is also provided, and can be very useful.

Microsoft’s Java Technologies home page. This site contains access to the tools, classes, and packages that Microsoft has developed to aid in your Java development.

This site offers help with Java, specifically the JavaScript language. It contains many code samples written in Java and JavaScript, and provides links to other sites containing JavaScript documentation.

This site contains reference material about JavaBeans, billed as the only component architecture for Java.

ACTIVEX.COM—http://www.activex.com

This site contains a comprehensive library of ActiveX controls. You can download ActiveX component software, including freeware, shareware, and demos. It is an excellent place to see how ActiveX technology is being used.

This site contains information about COM-based technologies, such as Distributed COM (DCOM), COM+, Microsoft® Transaction Server (MTS), and ActiveX™ Controls.

The Ultimate Resource for Java Developers—http://www.ibm.com/java/

This site includes information on many of the products IBM has produced to aid in Java program development, including BeanExtender, which builds and enhances JavaBeans components.
