About the Authors


Jeff Webb was a senior member of the BASIC documentation team at Microsoft. He worked on BASIC, QBASIC, OLE Automation, and all versions of Visual Basic. He contributed to many books and help systems, notably Visual Basic Refrence, OLE 2 Programmer's Reference (Creating Programable Applications), and Programming Integrated Solutions with Microsoft Office. Currently he runs Wombat Technology in Seattle, Washington.

Mike McKelvy owns McKelvy Software Systems, a software consulting firm in Birmingham, Alabama, specializing in the development of database applications. Mike has been developing software for business and engineering applications for over 15 years. Mike is also the author of Using Visual Basic 4. You can contact Mike at the following address:

Ronald R. Martinsen has a bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems Application from Loyola University, and has been programming in Visual Basic since version 1.0. He is also proficient in C and C++, and was the former president and founder of Martinsen's Software. Currently, he is employed by a major software development corporation where he uses Visual Basic daily.

Taylor Hile Maxwell graduated from Alma College in Northern Michigan in 1985. Prior to the release of Visual Basic, Taylor worked creating solutions in dBASE, Foxbase, FoxPro, and Clipper. Taylor has been working in Visual Basic since the languages's release.
