During Week 2, you will apply what you have learned about scripting to the Internet. By the end of this week, you will be comfortable with ActiveX scripting and APIs. You will have touched on the concept of ActiveX controls, and will
be ready to dive deeper into ActiveX controls in Week 3.
Day 8 provides a sample Web site built using VBScript and ActiveX components. Using the tools discussed on Day 4 and the knowledge of VBScript picked up on Day 6, you will build a
Web site that uses ActiveX controls.
Day 9 provides a sample Web site built using JavaScript and ActiveX components. Using the tools discussed on Day 4 and the knowledge of JavaScript picked up on Day 7, you will
build a Web site that uses ActiveX controls.
Day 10 introduces scenarios in which network or Web site administrators might use your ActiveX application. Day 10 also discusses the more common TCP/IP protocols and how they are used on standard and
ActiveX servers.
On Day 11, you will be introduced to CGI- and ISAPI-server scripting. This chapter should give you the skills necessary to work with existing CGIs. You will also have the information you need to learn how to create your own CGI
and ISAPI scripts.
Day 12 introduces some of the features of the WinSock library. You will use the WinSock TCP/UDP control from Microsoft's Internet Control Pack to create a basic WinSock application.
On Day 13, you will learn the general functionality offered by the Win32 API.
On Day 14, you will learn about the NetConference API and ActiveX control as well as how to use the NetMeeting software.
