detail.
AutoCAD 2002 is the leading general
design application that lets you maximize the value of your design data. It is
the foundation for collaborative design and the industry-specific solutions that
take your design to the next level.
AutoCAD 2002. It’s what you do with
your design data.
Standards
Manager |
Primary interface to
the feature. Allows you to attach multiple standards files to a drawing
and manipulate the hierarchy of standards (DWS)
files. |
CAD managers can easily
identify all plug-ins and standards files. You can use multiple standards
files to check for variances across multiple disciplines. You can put
standards in hierarchies so, for instance, a client’s corporate standard
always takes precedence. |
Plug-ins |
Defines behavior and
parameters of a particular type of standard. Plug-ins included for layers,
dimension styles, text styles, linetypes, and line
weights. |
Plug-ins allow you to
check for multiple standards variances within a single interactive or
batch session. This modular architecture allows Autodesk and developers to
add more plug-ins in the future. |
Interactive
Audit |
Allows you to find and
resolve standards discrepancies in files or groups of
files. |
Provides visual
feedback on standards discrepancies, and suggests appropriate fixes.
Allows you to fix problems on the fly, improving the quality and accuracy
of drawings. |
Fix
Problem |
Application suggests a
fix for problems identified during audit. You can accept it or select from
other possible fixes. |
This allows you to
cycle through a drawing, quickly identifying and fixing drawings. By
taking advantage of the automated one-click fix, you save considerable
time over fixing problems manually. |
Ignore
Problem |
Problems marked
“ignored” will not be reported in subsequent audits. Ignored problems can
easily be fixed later. |
Useful when a drawing
is not finished. There may be construction geometry to be removed later
but is needed in the interim. It can effectively be ignored while you
concentrate on significant problems. |
Skip
problem |
Allows you to skip a
problem without ignoring or fixing it. |
You can save time by
not being forced to deal with irrelevant things during an
audit. |
Automatically
fix problems |
Application can run
through the audit and automatically fix problems. |
When the standards
discrepancies are routine and numerous, this capability saves time by
removing the need to select each
fix. |
Feature |
Function |
Benefit |
Batch
Audit |
Checks each drawing
against its own standard, or a set of drawings against a specified list of
standards. |
Allows you to check a
large number of drawings in batch mode and produce a report listing
variances. Useful when receiving many drawings from an external vendor or
subcontractor, and also as a final quality assurance
tool. |
Windows
application |
The Standards batch
audit runs independently of AutoCAD as a standalone Windows
application. |
Batch audits can be run
without tying up a copy of AutoCAD. |
Batch
Report |
Produces output in XML
format, and is delivered with a sample XSL style sheet that allows this
data to be viewed in a browser. |
The XML data format can
be easily viewed in a browser, and it can easily be imported into other
applications, such as a quality management
system. |
URL
Support |
Supports URLs for
references between different files. |
Company standards can
be conveniently located at any URL for extended design teams spread around
the world. |
eTransmit
update |
eTransmit supports
links from drawings to standards files. |
You can transmit design
data with the standards used to build and validate the design. Others can
check their own work against the standards you
use. |
Feature |
Function |
Benefit |
Block
Attribute Manager |
Modify
attributes within a block without having to explode or redefine that
block, and all changes are immediately reflected in the existing block
insertions. |
Faster,
more accurate management of block attributes on a global basis. You can
edit attribute values, text-related settings, and properties in a single
operation, and all changes are automatically
displayed. |
Enhanced
Attribute Editor |
Allows
editing of attributes value, text settings, or properties in a selected
block reference. |
A
faster and more accurate way of managing individually selected block
attributes. |
Enhanced
Attribute Extract |
Extracts
block attribute data to comma-separated text (CSV),
Microsoft®
Excel (XLS), and Microsoft®
Access (MDB) file formats. You can attach alias names to blocks and
attributes, publish data from multiple drawings and xref attachments, and
save templates of selected blocks, attributes, and alias information for
reuse. |
You
can easily publish and summarize attribute data at a project level, store
settings in a template file and reapply them at different phases in the
project, and use published data in external applications such as Microsoft
Excel. |
Layer
Translator |
Translates
layer names and properties from one standard to another. Drawing files
(DWG), standards files (DWS), or saved Layer Translator files are used as
references for standard layers. |
Facilitates
collaboration by enabling easy translation between sets of layering
standards or conventions. |
Layer
Previous |
Restores
previously used layer states without undoing geometry
edits. |
Improves
your experience in Undo, Zoom, and Layer operations by letting you switch
between layer states without opening the Layer dialog
box. |
Associative
Dimensioning |
Modifying
dimensioned geometry in drawings automatically adjusts dimensions to the
modified geometry. |
True
associativity improves the design integrity of drawings. Avoiding
defpoints improves usability. |
Feature |
Function |
Benefit |
Transpatial
Associative Dimensioning |
Improved
support for paper space dimensions of model space objects (trans-spatial
references), eliminating the need to manually update paper space
dimensions after modifying model space geometry. |
Enhanced
trans-spatial object selection will prove useful in areas unrelated to
dimensioning. |
Text
Enhancements |
The
spell checker now handles block definitions. A text scaling tool provides
better handling of numerous annotations. |
Text
scaling on groups of objects is easier, requiring only one spell check of
the design to correct all text in the drawing file. No more unexpected
spelling errors arising when a block is
utilized. |
Text
Scaling |
Easily
set or adjust the plot height of text objects. |
Reduces
the manual adjustments necessary and encourages usage of
Layouts. |
Spell
Checker |
Includes annotation
objects not previously supported. |
You can check spelling
of previously hidden objects (Block Definitions), reducing potential
errors in drawings. |
